How to Build Momentum in Q2 Even If Q1 Was a Mess

How to Build Momentum in Q2 Even If Q1 Was a Mess

Let’s be honest. Q1 didn’t go as you planned. Maybe your launch flopped, or the motivation didn’t last past February. Maybe life threw a curveball, and business took a backseat. If you’re feeling behind, out of sync, or like you’re playing catch-up, you’re not aloneand you’re not out of time. We’ve put together a few tips to help you build momentum in Q2!

The good news? Q2 is your comeback season. Now is the perfect time to reset, refocus, and rebuild. Here’s how to create real momentum, no matter what happened last quarter.

1. Acknowledge the Gap, Then Let It Go

Before you charge ahead, take a moment to reflect on what didn’t work and why. Was it a lack of clarity, systems, support, or energy? Identify the friction points, but don’t dwell on them. Let the first quarter of the year be your teacher, and build on the lessons learned.

2. Revisit (and Reframe) Your Goals

Some of your goals might still be right. Others might need a pivot. Ask yourself:

  • Does this goal still align with my vision?
  • Is it realistic for the time and resources I have?
  • Am I pursuing it for impact or just ego?

If your goals feel heavy or forced, reframe them around your current reality, not your January fantasy. A clear, attainable goal builds momentum faster than a vague dream.

3. Pick ONE Thing to Focus On

Overwhelm is the enemy of momentum. You don’t need to do all the things. You need to do the right thing. Choose the one goal, offer, or system that will make everything else easier or more effective. Maybe it’s finally launching that email list. Finish your EP. Automate your client onboarding. Start there and go deep, not wide.

According to Entrepreneur.com, focusing on one key objective increases success rates by 80%.¹

4. Tap Into the Power of Community

Isolation kills creativity. If you left the 2024 It’s Your Time Conference feeling inspired, stay connected. Reach out to people you met. DM a speaker. Entrepreneurship doesn’t have to be lonely, and sometimes, the spark you need is just one conversation away.

5. Track Your Small Wins

Big goals are built on small victories. Every email sent, every call made, and every piece of content posted adds up. Tracking your wins rewires your brain for consistency and confidence. Set weekly intentions. Celebrate weekly wins. Use tools like Notion, Trello, or even a paper planner. The magic is in the momentum.

Q2 is a New Chapter

If you haven’t gotten on track for your goals, there is plenty of time to build momentum in Q2. Forget the pressure to catch up. Focus on showing up. The beauty of entrepreneurship is that you get to pivot, reset, and reintroduce yourself as many times as you need to.
